Every trade has a buyer and a seller. Delta asks a sharper question: which one was in a hurry? Build it from the tape, then learn to spot when price and delta stop agreeing.

A trade happens when someone in a hurry meets someone who was waiting. Delta counts who was in a hurry.
Buyers who are waiting sit on the bid. Sellers who are waiting sit on the offer (also called the ask), just above it. The gap between the two is the spread. A buyer in a hurry sends a market order and buys at the offer. That is lifting the offer: aggressive buying. A seller in a hurry sells at the bid. That is hitting the bid: aggressive selling. Delta is the contracts bought aggressively minus the contracts sold aggressively. Positive delta: buyers were pushing harder. Negative delta: sellers were.
Bar delta is that number for one bar (one candle on the chart). Cumulative delta keeps a running total through the session, so you can see the whole tug of war as one line, and compare it with price.
Delta is not "more buyers than sellers". Every contract bought was sold. Delta only tells you which side was willing to cross the spread to get it done.
The tape (also called time and sales) lists every trade as it prints, with the number of contracts. Buys at the offer are teal, sells at the bid are coral. Every sixteen trades a bar closes. Push the balance toward buyers or sellers and watch price, bar delta and cumulative delta respond.
It happens more than you would think. Aggressive sellers keep hitting the bid, but a patient buyer with limit orders keeps taking it all and raising their bid. Delta prints negative, and price drifts up anyway.
That is absorption, seen from the delta side. The sellers are pushing and losing. This is why delta on its own is never a signal. It tells you who was in a hurry, not who was winning. Price tells you who was winning.
The candles below never change. Only the cumulative delta underneath does. Flip between the two and read what each one says about the second high.
Four charts, each with price on top and cumulative delta underneath. In each one, tap the candle at the highest high or the lowest low, where delta refuses to follow.
I never trade delta on its own. It tells me who was in a hurry, and that is only useful next to a level I marked before the session and the footprint (the chart that shows the contracts traded at the bid and at the offer at every price inside each bar).
Where it earns its place is at a level I already had. Price pushes into it and makes a new high, but cumulative delta does not. Less aggressive buying was needed, or on offer, to print that high. On its own that is just a warning. Together with absorption (heavy aggressive buying that fails to push price higher) or exhaustion (each push higher printing less buying than the one before) on the footprint at the same level, it starts to tell a story I can act on.
A bar has 900 contracts bought at the offer and 650 sold at the bid. What is its delta?
What does cumulative delta show?
Price makes a higher high. Cumulative delta makes a lower high. What is that called, and what does it suggest?
Delta is negative but price keeps drifting up. What could be going on?
Delta, the footprint and the volume profile work as one system. The Mentorship shows you how to trade them together.
The Mentorship
Knowing it is one thing. Trading it live is where most traders fall apart: they hesitate, enter late, get stopped out, and watch the move go without them.
The free lessons show you what the market is doing. The Mentorship teaches you how to trade it.
You can keep piecing it together from free videos for months, jumping between strategies. Or you can learn it properly, in order, with me in your corner.
